Manna (psilocybin fungi)

Psilocybin mushrooms, commonly known as magic mushrooms, are a polyphyletic informal group of fungi that contain psilocybin which turns into psilocin upon ingestion. Psilocybin is a naturally accruing psychedelic that has been used throughout history for religious rites and ceremonies.

To date, studies have shown that psilocybin is beneficial in relieving symptoms of treatment-resistant depression, obsessive compulsive disorder and other mental health disorders. Psilocybin has also shown effectiveness at easing fear and anxiety in people with terminal cancer.

Ayahuasca

Ayahuasca is a brew made from the leaves of the Chakruna plant along with the stalks of the Banisteriopsis caapi vine.

This drink was used for spiritual and religious purposes by ancient Amazonian tribes and is still used as a sacred beverage by some religious communities in Brazil and North America.

Traditionally, a medicine person who leads Ayahuasca ceremonies prepares the brew by boiling torn leaves of the Chakruna plant and stalks of the Banisteriopsis caapi vine in water.

Many people who have taken Ayahuasca claim that the experience led to positive, long-term, life-altering changes. This may be due to the effects of Ayahuasca on the neurological system.

Recent research has shown that Ayahuasca may benefit health, particularly brain health, in several ways.
